U2 - Rattle And Hum (CD)

The first live/studio album they've done. I love this album, as well. Some of the songs were recorded live from the Joshua Tree tour around the U.S. The songs from studio were recorded in Memphis, TE and of course Dublin. It's interesting how any band does the extreme on making albums like this. Well, this isn't extreme, but I do love the way they did it. I like to think of it as a greatest hits live, with new songs. Funny but that's how I think of it as. The song that wasn't included on the CD, but shows up on the dvd (next post) is Sunday Bloody Sunday.

U2 - It Might Get Loud

Technically it's not a U2 movie, but I put in the title U2, since it does mention them in the movie, plus The Edge is from U2, too. If you like electric guitars? This is the movie for you, because it has 3 legends in it: Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page. If (like me knew nothing about Jack, nor Jimmy) want to know more about how these three got started? This is also the movie for you. The three take you different places where they got started. For example: The Edge takes you to Mount Temple where he met Bono, Larry and Adam. Edge tells you a little bit of a U2 back history of how they started, and played free shows for their classmates. It's really well done I must say. You'll also notice the director that did this one? Is also the director of From The Sky Down. 

U2 - Boy

Their first album, which I love so much. Sadly, though this album didn't get the recognition it needed, but they did tour with this album around the world, and they fell in love with the U.S. The radio stations down here started playing them here, and college radio pick them up almost instantly. I love how raw this album sounds to me, I say that because it didn't have that flare just yet. But the U2 sound was great, the lyrics were a bit weak, but hey it's a first album. You can't always get it right until you keep going, and that's exactly what they did, too. What I didn't know about the cover until I saw someone said it, "the "boy" picture that was used for the UK release, was banned for the U.S." That's what got me a bit frustrated that the original cover got banned.

U2 - From The Sky Down

This is a documentary of the making of Achtung Baby. The band goes back to Berlin, and relive the days of the time they were there. The movie starts out as they start a 360 show, then it merges into the story of Achtung Baby. Bono, and Edge are the only ones who talk more on camera that is. I like the idea of this movie, actually. I also liked how they did flashbacks with actual footage, too, and not just photos like most flashbacks do. This dvd does have some extras: So Cruel (Bono guitar solo), Love Is Blindness (The Edge singing acoustic), along with more extras. It's a great collectors item to own.

U2 - October

The second album of the Irish band, and this has more of a Christian feel to it. Before this album was made, Bono, Larry and Edge had friends in a Bible class, and invited them to do it. They did it a few times, when they almost broke up because of that. Edge had wanted to leave the band, but that would leave Larry, and Bono to follow. If I remember correctly they didn't leave. Which of course why they had their second album, which didn't do so good on the charts, but I like it.

U2 - Under A Red Blood Sky

One of my favorite concerts to watch. I am a bit disappointed that this version I have doesn't have the extra songs that were cut from the concert itself. I discovered that a few months after owning this dvd, but I never looked for the deluxe. If you watch this dvd, you'll notice the director didn't show the audience as much. The reason for that is, since it was cold and raining nobody didn't want to show. That show was sold out, too, but only half the audience showed up. That's the only down sider about it. I do like it how during The Electric Co., Bono climbs some rock where the flag is, but the director cut that part way down. Us fans aren't having to cringe to see Bono climbing dangerous levels. Overall it's another wonderful show to add to your collection.

U2 - War

The military drum sound album. I love the drumming on this album, actually. This is their third album that had people cringing a bit, because of Sunday Bloody Sunday. I love that song, but back then radio waves wouldn't play as much because of 'bloody' part. I remember some interview I was watching where Edge was talking to a dj, and the dj told Edge something like "it's good, but just drop the bloody part." Bono wrote Two Hearts Beat As One on his honeymoon, and to this day, Ali still laughs about it. He even said that when they played it during IE tour.

U2 - Vertigo tour

One of the shows I gotten to see, and I have so many memories of this show. Sadly, though it's not the one in Chicago, the show I went to see is here in Texas. Also, they came a day before my birthday, so it was a nice birthday present back in '05. My favorite memory was being on the side of Edge (my favorite guy if you haven't figured it out yet). Also we were close to them, too, we (my sister and I) were on the first upper level from the floor. We were pretty close, and we can at times see them or make out who they are. I had fun at the show, but the only part I hated, is when we were getting our merch. My sister wanted to wait after the show was done to get what we wanted. I ended up getting the V shirt, which has the band members on it. I had to get a medium, instead of a large or an ex-large. I was annoyed, but overall I had fun, and this is a great collection item to own.

U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

I think it's funny that this album and the one that comes before this (All That You Can't Leave Behind), both have super long names for albums. Bono even said during this era where they won grammys for this album (shown in the picture), he said "I just now realized how ridiculous the titles sound." It's true, but funny in away. I love this album (apart from a few songs I don't like), this album is way personal to the band members themselves. The song Original Of The Species is a personal favorite of mine, but that song is about all their baby girls (who aren't babies, but their daughters). I think in away Bono has foresight, because (you can disagree with me here) not even a year after this album came out, Edge's daughter (Sian) had Leukemia (she's fine now), but when you listen to it, it has to be about that. Even though I know Bono has said what this song is about something else. I think in away when you write a song or anything, that your mind goes to the future, and for me that's what I really think Miracle Drug is about.

Originally this album was going to be called How To Dismantle An Atomic Bob. Bob being his father who died prior this making this album. There's a song called Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is about Bono's father. It's an emotional song, when sung live I don't know how Bono sings it without shedding a tear from it.

U2 - ZooTV

One of my favorite tours that I wish I could've gone to see. I was still a little shrimp, plus my sisters never gone to see this show. Anywho, it's my favorite because it was the start of something fresh, like how they used at that times technology to use for their tour. For example: they had their own satellite dish, they used laser discs for recording, giant tv screens when Bono wants to watch a bit of tv (hence the name of the tour). I love this concert in particular because of the crowd. They were so energetic from start to finish, never stopped screaming, that's how I love concerts, when fans don't stop screaming even though Bono is talking. My favorite highlight is during Mysterious Ways, when Moreligh (at this point Edge's future wife) was dancing and towards the end of the song, Edge would do a little dance with his feet. I get a feeling that she taught him that. This a wonderful item to own if you are getting started as a fan.
